Through one of our members, the Kansas City Auburn Club has adopted a tiger that is under the care of Turpentine Creek in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Turpentine Creek ( www.turpentinecreek.org ) is a non-profit organization that serves as a rescue for large animals, mostly big cats, who have been abandoned, abused or neglected and provides them with a comfortable home in which they can live out their natural lives.
Our tiger, Detroit, was born on October 5, 2005 in Auburn ... Kansas. He was born at a wildlife preserve, but then their county banned all exotic animals, so they were forced to shut down. As the reserve was running out of the allotted time given by the county to relocate all of their animals, Turpentine Creek came in and rescued Detroit, along with a few other tigers.
Detroit is an amazing tiger. He is very attentive and loves people. When ever anyone is around his enclosure you can usually hear him chuffing or making other friendly noises and he always makes eye contact.
If you would like to donate money to help care for Detroit, or any of the over 100 other big cats, bears, or other animals at Turpentine Creek, please visit their Adoption and Sponsorship page.
If you are ever near Eureka Springs, please stop by and say "hey" to Detroit for us. We're sure he'll be glad to see you.
Turpentine Creek is a non-profit organization, listed in Section 509 (a) (2) as described in Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Codes and Regulations. Donations are tax deductible.
